### 08. Common Engineering Questions

#### Engineering Items

##### 01. How should anodizing, coating and polishing be selected?

Anodizing is commonly selected for aluminum corrosion resistance, insulation and color. Coating supports a wider range of materials, colors and protective requirements. Polishing and finishing are used mainly for deburring, roughness, gloss and edge control. Final selection depends on the material, environment, appearance class and dimensional requirements.

##### 02. Will surface treatment change holes, threads and assembly fits?

Yes. Anodic films and coatings add thickness to treated surfaces. Critical holes, slots, threads, sealing surfaces and mating areas may require machining allowance, masking or post-treatment finishing. Compensation should be confirmed according to the selected process and target thickness.

##### 03. Why can color vary between batches using the same specification?

Material grade, heat-treatment condition, starting roughness, pretreatment, film thickness, bath condition and curing parameters can all affect color. Critical cosmetic parts should use approved color samples, limit samples and first-article approval.

##### 04. Can polishing affect dimensions and edge geometry?

Yes. Vibratory finishing, robotic polishing and precision finishing all remove material. Thin walls, sharp edges, sealing surfaces and critical fits require controlled time, media, pressure and polishing paths, together with clearly defined protected areas.

##### 05. How are laser marks and printed codes kept clear and traceable?

The material, treated surface, marking position, character size, contrast, QR-code grade and rub-resistance requirement must be confirmed. Samples should be approved before production, followed by visual or scanning verification.
